The 2002/03 season was the third season of the Suomi-sarja as the third highest Finnish ice hockey league .

mode

In the main round, the league was divided into two groups with nine teams each, each occupied by regional criteria. The teams in Zone West played 28 games each, the teams in Zone East 32 games each. The four best-placed teams in each group qualified for the playoffs, the four winners of which in turn qualified for the promotion round to the second-rate Mestis . The last two placed in each group had to compete in the relegation to stay in the league.

Each team received two points for a win after regular time and after extra time, one point for a tie and defeat after extra time and zero points for a defeat after regular time.

Quarter finals

The four winners qualified for the Mestis promotion round. As the best placed team of all Suomi-sarja participants in the promotion round, HC Salamat was declared a third division champion.
