The ship was built as a windward for the shipping company Kloster Cruise (predecessor of the Norwegian Cruise Line , NCL) at Chantiers de l'Atlantique . On November 14, 1992 the ship was undocked and delivered to the client on May 4, 1993. The maiden voyage began on May 14, 1993 in Fort Lauderdale . In 1998 the ship was lengthened at Lloyd Werft in Bremerhaven, construction of the new central ship section began on October 18, 1997. The section was installed from January 14, 1998 to March 1998, after which the ship was renamed Norwegian Wind .
The Norwegian Wind was used in the Caribbean for seven-day Caribbean cruises from / to Cozumel in the spring and winter of 2000 . The ship spent the summer on week-long tours in Alaska from / to Vancouver. In the fall of 2000, Norwegian Wind went to the Hawaiian Islands. From 2001 to 2007 Norwegian Wind made trips to the Caribbean, Alaska and Hawaii.
For the 2007 summer season, NCL gave the ship to the parent company, which in return left the new builds planned for its own fleet to the subsidiary NCL. Since then, the former Norwegian Wind has been sailing as SuperStar Aquarius mostly from the base port in Hong Kong .
