Supernova is a film drama directed by Harry Macqueen that is set to premiere at the San Sebastian International Film Festival in September 2020 .

Sam and Tusker have been a couple for 20 years and are more passionately in love than ever before. But in the two years since Tusker was diagnosed with young dementia, their lives together had to change. They know they have very little time together. In the fall they are planning a road trip through England while Tusker can still travel. They want to get back together with friends and family members and visit the places of their past. During the trip, their love for one another will be tested like never before.

Directed by Harry Macqueen , who also wrote the script. It is his second film after Hinterland .

Most of the shooting took place in Cumbria , a county in northwest England on the Irish Sea, and was completed in November 2019. The two-time Oscar nominee Dick Pope acted as cameraman .

A first screening of the film is planned for September 2020 at the San Sebastian International Film Festival .
