history

The band was formed in 1987 by singer Sean McDonnell, guitarist Scott Kleber, bassist John Lachapelle and drummer John Leamy at Syracuse University . After the group had signed a contract with Amphetamine Reptile Records , the debut album Nationwide was released in 1990 . In 1992 the band went on tour through Great Britain together with Helmet (band) . The EP The Trim, 9th Ward High Roller , followed in 1993 , before the group switched to Atlantic Records and published their second album under the name Shimmer in 1994 . Off the A-List , a song from this album, was played several times on MTV . In 1994 the band played with Fudge Tunnel in London . Singer Sean McDonnell died on January 18, 1995 of complications from an asthma attack . The remaining members then decided not to continue the band project.

style

Stefan Gaffory from Ox-Fanzine assigned the band to this genre in an article about noise rock . Victor W. Valdivia from Allmusic also assigned the band to Noise Rock on Nationwide , whereby they come very close to Hard Rock , as you can hear influences from bands like the Rolling Stones and Southern Rock influences. In addition, you can hear influences from sleaze rock and blues rock in various songs . Allmusic's Alex Henderson assigned the band to alternative rock in his review of Shimmer . Occasionally, influences from hard rock and punk would also be processed.
