Susan Cooper
Susan Cooper (born May 23, 1935 in Burnham , Buckinghamshire , England ) is a British writer who studied English in Oxford. Cooper has created a very eclectic body of work that includes screenplays, novels, children's books, and plays. After completing her studies, she first worked as a journalist, but then married an American and moved to Connecticut / USA in 1963. Her biggest success today is her fantasy series The Dark is Rising .

Susan Cooper is by her youth book series " Winter Solstice " ( The Dark is Rising ) become known them in the elements of the Arthur - Sage with Celtic mythology ( Mabinogion ) and own elements into an exciting fantasy linked to children. The series is more aimed at younger readers and has received several awards. The first part is called “ Before the Flood Comes ”, the second is “ Winter Solstice ”, followed by “ Greenwitch ”, “ The Gray King ” and “ The Powers of Light ”.
" Winter Solstice " is about the struggle between good and evil that has been going on since ancient times. With the 11th birthday of the protagonist Will Stantons, the last to join the so-called ancestors, this struggle enters a decisive phase. The second part of the series of novels was filmed in 2007 under the title The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising (Eng: Winter Solstice - The Hunt for the Six Signs of Light ).
Her first marriage was from 1963 to 1983 with the American Nicholas Grant, which is why she moved from England to the United States. In 1996 she married the actor and writer Hume Cronyn , with whom she remained married until his death in 2003.
