Susan Luckey

Susan Luckey (born April 4, 1938 in Los Angeles , California - † November 29, 2012 ) was an American actress .

Life

Luckey was born Suzanne Douglas in Los Angeles, Hollywood . She appeared as a theater actress and musical performer in the season 1954/1955 on Broadway in the musical Peter Pan (Text: Carolyn Leigh; music: Mark Charlap and Jules Styne ) and in season 1959/1960 in the musical Take Me Along by Bob Merrill ( 1921-1998).

In 1954, Luckey began her film career with a small role in the comedy film Deep in My Heart , a film biography about the composer Sigmund Romberg . Luckey was not mentioned in the credits , however . Two daughter roles in American cinema brought her notoriety. Luckey starred as Billy Bigelow's daughter Louise in the musical Carousel (1956); her film father was Gordon MacRae . In the film musical The Music Man (1962) she played the role of Zaneeta Shin; she impersonated the daughter of Mayor Shinn (played by Paul Ford ).

Luckey's last movie role was a supporting role in the musical Step Out of Your Mind (1966).

In 1957 she was in a television adaptation of the musical Annie Get Your Gun as Winnie Tate, the female part of the second couple in love. She also had guest roles in the US television series The George Burns Show and Gracie Allen Show (1956) and Telephone Time (1956/1957).

Private

Luckey was married to actor Larry Douglas from 1964 until his death . Douglas died in 1996. The marriage resulted in a daughter, Shayna Douglas. Luckey died at her Los Angeles home at the age of 74.
