Susannah Townsend

Susannah Townsend , MBE (born July 28, 1989 in Blackpool , Lancashire ) is a British field hockey player . She won a gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics .

Life

Townsend attended Sutton Valence School in Maidstone. With the British women's national field hockey she won at the Olympics in 2012 , the bronze and in 2016 the gold medal. At the FIH Champions Trophy 2012 and the Commonwealth Games 2014, she won the silver medal with Great Britain. At European Championships she won the silver medal with the British team in 2013 and the gold medal in 2015. Townsend previously played for the clubs Canterbury Hockey Club and Reading Hockey Club. She lives openly gay in the UK.
