Friedrich Christian Gustav von Hombergk zu Vach (born November 4, 1791 in Wittgenstein ; † February 5, 1858 in Darmstadt ) was a German lawyer , President of the Grand Ducal Hessian Court of the Starkenburg Province in Darmstadt and an extraordinary member of the Grand Ducal Hessian State Council .

ancestry

Hombergk came from the Hessian family Hombergk. One of his ancestors was enfeoffed by Landgrave Moritz von Hessen-Kassel in 1596 with the village of Vach, today's Kleinvach . Since then this branch of the Hombergk family has been called zu Vach . This line of the family received imperial nobility in 1718 , which was confirmed in 1780. On July 18, 1825, Friedrich von Hombergk zu Vach was confirmed the nobility and expanded for the Grand Duchy of Hesse. The family provided civil servants and scholars in particular, but also officers.

Family and private

Hombergk was born as the son of the Grand Ducal Hessian Higher Appeal Council in Darmstadt, Christian Heinrich Wilhelm von Hombergk zu Vach , and his wife Henriette Wilhelmine Friederike, nee. Hinzpeter, born. Hombergk married on November 20, 1819 in Darmstadt Johannette Sophie Lehr (1801-1824) and after her death in second marriage on August 9, 1825 there Wilhelmine Friederike Henriette Luise Leopoldine Theodore von Grolmann (1802-1875). The son Gustav Wilhelm Georg von Hombergk zu Vach , who later became a lieutenant colonel in the Grand Ducal Hessian Gendarmerie Corps , comes from his first marriage .

Hombergk took over the Fideikommiss Kleinvach near Bad Sooden-Allendorf in a very poor condition, but managed it very well, so that his sons could take over a well-developed manor when he died.

Life

Legal activity

In 1808 Hombergk took the study of law at the University of Giessen on. As a candidate for the right, he was appointed secretariat accessist at the Grand Ducal Hessian Court in 1811 . In the following year he became assessor of rights at the court. When he was appointed court judge in 1817, he was able to take on his first judicial position. Obviously he proved himself, because in 1822 Hombergk was also appointed as a supplementary judge of the Grand Ducal Hessian Higher War Court.

From 1827 to 1835 he was senior judge at the Grand Ducal Hessian Higher Appeal Court and then until 1855 director of the Grand Ducal Hessian Court Court. In addition, from 1842 he was a full member of the Higher Court of Justice. Hombergk was released from this position in 1855 at his own request, when he was promoted to President of the Grand Ducal Hessian Court of the Starkenburg Province , based in Darmstadt.

Political offices

In 1844 he was appointed a lifelong member of the First Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse by Grand Duke Ludwig II and later also by his successor Ludwig III. confirmed in office. Accordingly, he was a member of the first chamber from 1844 to 1849 and from 1856 to 1858 (due to the March Revolution , the members of the first chamber were elected from 1849 to 1856).

From 1850 until his death Hombergk was an extraordinary member of the State Council of the Grand Duchy.
