Susanne Bisovsky (born March 25, 1968 in Linz ) is an Austrian fashion designer.

Career

The family moved from their place of birth in Linz to Vienna and Gumpoldskirchen , where Susanne Bisovsky spent childhood and school. From the HBLA Mödling she went directly to the University of Applied Arts Vienna , where she was accepted into the master class of Jean-Charles de Castelbajac and was engaged by him in Paris during the first half of her studies. Already there she experimented with latex, and the fashion designer used the results of her experiments in his collections.

Back in Vienna, she continued studying under Marc Bohan and Vivienne Westwood , before completing her degree under Helmut Lang . Her diploma thesis “Observation” has received several awards and she received the first Fred Adlmüller grant. For Helmut Lang, based on her special latex technology, she then developed the “Dress of the Year 1995”, ninety-nine dresses made of red, pink and black lace dipped in latex. This shift dress was also part of the first major fashion exhibition of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York for 70 years under the title "Items - Is Fashion modern" in 2017.

After working with Helmut Lang, she received a teaching position at the fashion class at the University of Applied Arts Vienna ; At the same time, several national and international fashion companies became aware of her. Susanne Bisovsky decided on the Swiss-German-French fashion label Kathleen Madden. The collection presentation took place on the basis of a photo shoot produced with Markus Wiesner in Paris. A fashion show staged at the Reed Messe Salzburg by Susanne Bisovsky and her partner Joseph Bonwit Gerger led to the ongoing collaboration with the fashion company Sportalm / Kitzbühel.

Together with the Viennese porcelain manufacturer Augarten , she produced the porcelain shirt , which was also made in a modified form by the porcelain factory Lang in Ebrach / Germany and by Herend in Hungary. In 2010 Susanne Bisovsky furnished the Austria pavilion at the Expo 2010 in Shanghai .

Her own collections are divided into prêt-à-porter and haute couture .

Susanne Bisovsky also designs costumes for international theater and opera stages. After furnishing “Labyrinth, the magic flute, second part” on the occasion of the Salzburg Festival 2013, “Il Franco Cacciatore” followed at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan in 2017.
