Susanne Bommeli

Susanne Bommeli (born February 10, 1951 in Bern ; † April 26, 2011 ) was a Swiss entrepreneur and politician ( FDP The Liberals ) from the canton of Bern .

She grew up in Bern, attended the Kirchenfeld high school and after graduating from high school and marrying Walter Bommeli, she spent a few years in Nepal . With her husband, she founded the veterinary company Dr. Bommeli AG, which it sold to the Hoechst Group in 1991 . She was the mother of two children and lived with her husband at Bremgarten Castle .

Bommeli in 1987 in the municipal council (the executive) of Bremgarten bei Bern elected and had 1991-1999 Municipality President . In 1994 she became a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Bern . She was one of the leading financial politicians there and advocated a strict austerity policy. In August 2010, she resigned from the cantonal parliament because of cancer, which she succumbed to in April 2011.
