Susanne Kernl

Susanne Kernl (born May 22, 1982 in Nabburg ) is a former German basketball player .

career

Kernl played basketball at TSV 1880 Schwandorf, then from 1999 at the Regensburg gymnastics club . In 2001, Kernl, who started studying physics in Heidelberg , moved to the second division team KuSG Leimen . In 2002 she made the jump into the U20 selection of the German Basketball Federation .

The 1.85-meter-long wing and inside player left Leimen and switched to the Swedish first division club Visby Basketbollklubb in 2004. In their first season 2004/05 Kernl won the Swedish championship. She contributed to this success in 33 league appearances on average 9.5 points and 4.6 rebounds. In the summer of 2005 she took part in the Universiade in Izmir with the German selection . In August 2006, she played her first of a total of ten full international matches for Germany (all in 2006). Kernl, who  studied international economics instead of physics in Visby , stayed with the Swedish first division club until 2008. At times she was the captain of the "Visby Ladies". Due to knee problems, she took a long break from basketball before playing again in Germany for the second division club BC Hellenen Munich from January 2015 until the end of the 2014/15 season .
