The Regensburger Turnerschaft is a German sports club founded in 1861 , with headquarters in the Bavarian city of Regensburg .

history

RT hall at Schopperplatz

The club was founded in 1861 as TV 1861 . This was followed by the founding of the Jahn Gymnastics Association in 1886 and the men's gymnastics club in 1901. In 1928 the clubs then merged to form the gymnastics club . On January 5, 1930, the club's sports hall at Oberen Wöhrd was completed. During the Second World War the hall was used as a military hospital and after the end of the war it was used by American occupation troops until 1951. Today the RT-Halle / Städtische Sporthalle at Oberen Wöhrd serves as a multi-purpose hall for events. In the mid-1950s, the club developed into the second largest sports club in Bavaria with around 5000 members. In 1950 an outdoor pool was added to the club's grounds on the Untere Wöhrd , as well as a multi-purpose hall in 1960 and a tennis facility in 1977. The tennis department of the club is outsourced to the TC Rot-Blau Regensburg .

Soccer

The football team took in the season 1947/48 at the Landesliga Bayern , within the Season Southern Bavaria , in part, finishing there with 36:12 points in third place. After the next season became a single track, the team rose from last place in the table at the end with 10:50 points.

In the 2004/05 season, the team played in the B-Class and finished second there with 48 points at the end of the season. Promoted to the A-class, the club achieved fourth place with 49 points after the first season in the A-class. After the 2012/13 season, the team achieved second place in the league with 68 points and was thus able to qualify for the relegation games. The game against SpVgg Hofdorf-Kiefenholz was then won with 4: 1 points. Thus, the team entered the district class for the 2013/14 season. There the season ended with 22 points in tenth place on the table. After the next season there was only twelfth place with 23 points, so the team had to go back into the relegation. The game at SpVgg Stadtamhof Regensburg was then lost 2-0, which meant that the team had to accept relegation again. Back in the A-Class , fourth place was achieved after the 2015/16 season with 45 points. But even the A-Class should be relegated to the next season. Due to the twelfth place with only 23 points, the team had to play another relegation game. The relegation game against FC Laub was then lost 2: 4, which meant that the team even had to relegate back to B-Class. In the first season back in the B-Class, the team finished fourth with 42 points. The team still plays in this league to this day.

athletics

At the German athletics championships in the 1960s, athletes starting the gymnastics class were able to win several medals. Harry Jungmann achieved the bronze medal in the long jump as early as 1951 . Then in 1964 , with Gerlinde Hefner , a woman was able to achieve a medal for the club for the first time. In this case it was the bronze medal again, this time in the 800-meter run .

A year later there were three medals. On the one hand, Gerlinde Hefner achieved the silver medal this time over the 800 m and the bronze medal in the cross-country run . The bronze medal could also be achieved in the team competition in cross country, to which Hefner belonged.

In addition, Gerda Klöpfer was the first woman to win the German 1500 meter championship in 1968 and 1969 . In the second year she started for TV Erkheim . In 1968 she also achieved the bronze medal over the 800 meters. The same medal was then able to reach the 3 × 800 m relay in the same year . In 1969 Karl-Heinz Betz won the bronze medal for the 3000 m obstacle .
