Susesch Bayat (born May 10, 1940 in Iran ) is an Iranian photographer .

Life

At the age of 6, Bayat moved with his mother and siblings to Switzerland on Lake Zurich . After finishing school and graduating from boarding school in Zug , he went to Frankfurt am Main , initially worked in construction and, after a year of internship, studied architecture for two semesters in Darmstadt .

When he realized that he was more interested in film than architecture, he went to Berlin in 1961 , where he did a year internship in the Film-Kopierwerk , and then went to the Academy for Graphics, Advertising and Photography (now the University of the Arts ) to study.

In July 1965, after training and studying, he tried to gain a foothold, which was not easy at first. In this way, he kept the family, which had now been established, afloat with odd jobs and small assignments. In the meantime he had discovered his passion for photography and initially devoted himself particularly to women photography. These photos received attention in various articles in specialist photo magazines and in the Berlin daily press as well as in paperback covers.

On the occasion of an unregistered audition at Deutsche Grammophon in Hamburg , the head of the classical music department and the then “gray eminence” Pali Meller Marcovicz became aware of Susesch Bayat's photographic work. Decades of cooperation for DG, CBS, SONY, EMI, Teldec and Polygram resulted. During this time, around 1,000 record and CD covers were created, mostly with almost all international stars in the field of classical music, such as Leonard Bernstein , Herbert von Karajan , Daniel Barenboim , Claudio Abbado , Zubin Mehta , Lorin Maazel , Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau , Anne Sophie Mutter , Martha Argerich , Ivo Pogorelich , Krystian Zimerman etc.

Susesch Bayat demonstrated his versatility with orders for the automotive industry (VW, Mercedes, BMW). His very special passion was also the wine landscapes and champagne houses at home and abroad. Numerous documentaries in various lifestyle magazines testify to this.

His tireless search for new ideas and projects was reflected in various partially elaborated project offers to the automotive industry and others, into which he had put a lot of creativity and work.

In the last few years Susesch Bayat devoted himself more to film. This resulted in various short reports, most of which testify to his interest in architectural masterpieces such as museums and music halls, but also often draw attention to artists and musicians who were discovered by Susesch Bayat on his numerous travels as if by the way.

Susesch Bayat lives in Berlin.
