The GSX 600 F is a motorcycle from the Japanese manufacturer Suzuki that has been built in several forms. She is one of the sports tourers . It is the smallest model of the GSX-F series available in Europe, which also includes the GSX 250 F, GSX 400 F, Suzuki GSX 750 F and Suzuki GSX 1100 F models . The successor is the GSX 650 F.

When it was released in 1988, the GSX 600 F competed against the competition as a super sports car, although from the start it was more of a versatile amateur athlete. Engine The engine reveals the Supersport genes - it is a high-revving 4-cylinder , air / oil-cooled four-stroke engine derived from the GSX-R 750 engine, which has since been retired due to the switch to water cooling, and whose power only develops from around 7000 rpm. Since numerous throttled versions could be ordered from the factory, improperly throttled or dethrottled engines are a common reason for engine damage .

Carburettor In the first two years of construction, carburetor diaphragms that were firmly connected to the throttle valves were still used. If the membrane leaks, this causes high repair costs.

Choke On the 1988 model, the choke lever is still attached directly to the carburetor. It is difficult to reach and dose, and it is easy to overlook. Long journeys with an enriched mixture ( pulled choke ) lead to increased wear. For the '89 model year, the lever was moved to the handlebars.

Exhaust system The exhaust is extremely susceptible to rust. From year of construction 1989 the silencers have stainless steel jackets, which have no effect against rust. Suspension The fork can only be adjusted several times from model year 1989. It can therefore be adapted to the driver's weight, which significantly reduces the tendency to bottom out.
