Svante Schöblom
Svante Schöblom (* 1942 ) is a Swedish furniture designer and representative of Scandinavian design .
Life
Schöblom studied in the 1960 years at the Stockholm School of Art Konstfack among other industrial art, furniture and interior design . He then worked as a designer and product developer for the Overman furniture company in Tranås , which was known for the use of innovative materials and manufacturing methods.
For them, Schöblom designed, among other things, seating furniture with a lounge chair character in the style of the mid-century modern . Many of his other works consisted of a substructure (often made of thin chrome-plated metal components) and an overlying, single-colored seat made of injection molding , which could be flexible and in many cases also stackable (such as the Snille chair designed for IKEA ). Upholstered seats were often in a color that contrasted with the plastic body of the chair. In the 1970s , designs without a metal substructure were aimed specifically at teenagers with striking colors and were sold worldwide.
