Sven Becker (doctor)

Sven Becker (born February 14, 1968 in Wiesbaden ) is a German gynecologist and university professor.

Live and act

Becker studied from 1987 to 1994 at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz . He also studied two semesters at the Université René Descartes Paris from 1989 to 1990 , one semester at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in 1991 and two semesters from 1992 to 1993 at the Nihon University in Tokyo . In 1994 he passed the 3rd medical state examination and the US state examination. With a biochemical doctoral thesis with Werner EG Müller , he received a doctorate from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz ( magna cum laude ) in 1999. med. PhD. In 2006 he completed his habilitation with Diethelm Wallwiener in Tübingen.

Sven Becker began his medical practice in 1995 at the Academic Teaching Hospital of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main under the direction of Gerd Hoffmann . He then worked in the gynecological clinic of the St. Josephs Hospital in Wiesbaden and then under the direction of Heinz Höfler at the Institute for Pathology at the Technical University of Munich in the Klinikum rechts der Isar. As part of his activities in Tübingen, Becker qualified in 2006 in the field of "Special Obstetrics and Perinatal Medicine", in 2008 in "Special Operative Gynecology and Gynecological Oncology", and in 2010 in "Palliative Medicine".

From April 1, 2012, Becker succeeded Klaus Diedrich as W3 professor for gynecology and obstetrics at the University of Lübeck and director of the clinic for gynecology and obstetrics on the Lübeck campus of the Schleswig-Holstein University Medical Center . Since July 1, 2012, he has been a full university professor (W3) and director of the gynecological clinic at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main.

Sven Becker is married and has two children.

Research topics and clinical focus

Sven Becker's clinical focus is on operative gynecology and gynecological oncology as well as minimally invasive surgery ( laparoscopy ), in particular the treatment of ovarian cancer (ovarian cancer), cervical cancer (cervical cancer), uterine cancer (endometrial cancer), as well as treatment of cancer of the vagina that contains cancer, and vulvar cancer Diseases and the treatment of sarcomas of the genital area. Research focuses on special and innovative surgical techniques in these areas as well as in oncology micrometastasis and the understanding of treatment-relevant molecular biological changes in cancer cells, especially in breast cancer , ovarian cancer and other gynecological tumors .
