Sven Schuster

Sven Schuster (* 1965 in Wolfsburg ) is a German jazz musician ( double bass , composition ) who works mainly in the Netherlands.

Schuster started playing the double bass when he was 16. He studied first at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz , then at de Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Amsterdam. In 1988 he played in the quartet of Klaus Brugger, then in the trio of Berndt Luef , with whom two albums were created, and in the band of Lydia van Dam . He founded his quartet Shooster with Anton Goudsmit , Efraim Trujillo and Victor de Boo in 1995; On the three albums of the band Three Is a Crowd (1998), Shooster (2004) and Shooster Live (2013) primarily his own compositions are presented. The band played u. a. in the Bimhuis and at the North Sea Jazz Festival . He also leads the Amstel Big Band . He has accompanied Susanne Alt since 2003 and is documented on several of her albums. Until the end of 2016 he could be heard in the house band of Mijke's Middag Live every Friday on Dutch Radio 6 .
