Sven Volmering (born April 15, 1976 in Rhede ) is a German politician and was a member of the Bundestag for the CDU from 2013 to 2017 .

Life, education and work

Volmering is Roman Catholic. He is married and has two daughters.

In 1995 he completed his Abitur at the private Bischöflichen St. Josef-Gymnasium in Bocholt and then did his basic military service in the German Armed Forces in Coesfeld .

From 1996 to 2002 he studied political science , modern and contemporary history and economic policy at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster and graduated with a Magister Artium . From 2002 to 2003 he studied education and completed his legal clerkship from 2004 to 2006 , which he completed with the state examination.

Since the beginning of 2006, Volmering has worked as a social science, politics and history teacher at the Kopernikus-Gymnasium Neubeckum and since July 2006 at the Mariengymnasium in Bocholt.

Political career

Volmering joined the Junge Union in 1991 and the CDU in 1992. From 1994 to 2009 he was a member of the Bocholt city council.

From 1992 to 2001 Volmering was the chairman of the Junge Union Bocholt. He has been honorary chairman there since 2003. From 2003 to 2007 Volmering headed the district association of the Junge Union Münsterland. From 2006 to 2012 he was state chairman of the Junge Union Nordrhein-Westfalen.

He ran unsuccessfully in the Bundestag elections in 2009 , 2013 and 2017 in the Bundestag constituency Bottrop - Recklinghausen III ( Bottrop , Gladbeck , Dorsten ). In the 2013 Bundestag election, he was able to enter the Bundestag on 26th place on the state list of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Volmering has been a member of the state executive committee of the CDU North Rhine-Westphalia since 2006, and was deputy state chairman from 2010 to 2014. Together with Thomas Jarzombek , he has headed the network advisory board of the CDU NRW since 2010.

Member of the Bundestag

In the Bundestag, Volmering was a full member of the Education, Research and Technology Assessment Committee and a deputy member of the Sports Committee . For the CDU / CSU parliamentary group he was a reporter for digital education, educational research, media literacy and distance learning / distance learning.

Volmering also belonged to the faction-internal groups parliamentary group for medium-sized companies, AG Kommunalpolitik and AG Ruhrgebiet.

Since 2014 Volmering has been a deputy member of the board of trustees of the Federal Agency for Civic Education .
