Svetlana Mikhailovna Lapina

Swetlana Michailowna Lapina ( Russian Светлана Михайловна Лапина , English transcription Svetlana Lapina ; born April 12, 1978 in Makhachkala ) is a former Russian high jumper .

At the Junior World Championships in Athletics in Sydney in 1996 , she won the bronze medal with a jumped height of 1.91 m. At the European Athletics Junior Championships in 1997 in Ljubljana , she was also third.

In 1999 she took second place behind the reigning European champion Monica Iagăr at the Universiade in Palma . Lapina celebrated the greatest success of her career a few weeks later by winning the bronze medal at the World Athletics Championships in Seville . With a personal best of 1.99 m at the end of the competition, she was level with the winner Inha Babakowa and the second Jelena Jelessina . The number of failed attempts decided on placements.

At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000, Lapina was eliminated from the qualification with 1.92 m.

Swetlana Lapina is 1.80 m tall and weighed 58 kg at competition times.
