The Swan River is a river in the east of the Australian state of Tasmania .

geography

River course

The river has its source on the eastern slopes of Mount St. John , west of Douglas Apsley National Park , about 83 km southeast of Launceston . From there it first flows south and passes under the Tasman Highway (A3) at Cranbrook . Further south, shortly before joining the Great Oyster Bay would reach, he turns his course to the east and flows behind the Nine Mile Beach , the Kings Bay and the Great Swanport . At the end of Nine Mile Beach it turns south again and flows into Great Oyster Bay, a bay in the Tasman Sea . The Moulting Lagoon joins Kings Bay and Great Swanport to the north.
