Swindle (alternative title: Verdecktes Spiel ; original title: $ windle ) is an American thriller from 2002 . It was directed by KC Bascombe , who also wrote the script.
action
Seth George works as a police officer in New York City . He is considered cunning and brave among his colleagues, but also an outsider. The internal affairs department is investigating him.
George meets Sophie Zenn, with whom he falls in love. She pulls him into a bank robbery. The robbers take hostage, the leader enjoys media coverage. It turns out, however, that the robbery is only intended to distract from breaking into a safe, where samples of the banknotes are kept. The robbers discover that George is a cop.
Reviews
Filmdienst wrote that the film was a "largely entertaining, but conventionally developed thriller based on current patterns" . He offers "a few twists and turns" and "only surprises with his unexpected" happy ending "" .
The magazine Cinema wrote that the film “would like to be hip” , but that it was “only secondary use of ideas” . The conclusion of the editors: Swindle is "a weak copy of better crime novels" .
