The Swislatsch ( Belarusian Свіслач [ˈɕvisɫaʧ] , ; Russian Сви́слочь , Swislotsch ) is a 327 km long river in Belarus . It rises in the Byelorussian ridge northwest of the capital Minsk . From its source in the Waloschyn Rajon in the Minskaya Woblasz , the Swislatsch flows mainly in a south-easterly direction and, just before Minsk, feeds the Saslaujer Reservoir , also known as the "Minsk Sea" and the largest reservoir in the country. A few kilometers downstream, it crosses the Minsk city center, where it is also dammed. Here, its banks are lined with extensive parks (e.g. Janka-Kupala Park , Gorki Park , Pushking Gardens) and representative buildings ( Sports Palace , Belarusian State Circus). On the island of tears in the city center there is a memorial to those who fell in the Afghan war .
Later it reaches the Mahiljouskaja Woblasz and flows there near the town Swislatsch north of Babrujsk from the right into the Bjaresina . In Asipovichy the Svislach River is dammed. It is - apart from smaller boats - not navigable.
