Sylvio Hoffmann (born January 25, 1964 in Gera ) is a former German soccer player who was mainly active as a striker . He played for FC Carl Zeiss Jena and BSG Energie Cottbus in the GDR league .

Career

Hoffmann played in his youth from 1970 to 1977 for BSG Progress Munich-Bernsdorf . In 1984 he worked for BSG Progress Weida . Hoffmann then played for the army sports associations Vorwärts Marienberg and Vorwärts Weißkeißel, before moving to BSG Chemie Kahla in 1986 . He stayed there until 1988, when he was obliged by BSG Wismut Gera , which played in the second-rate GDR league. There he was part of the permanent staff from the start and played all 34 league games in which he scored 18 goals. Hoffmann's first game took place on August 14, 1988 against SG Dynamo Eisleben , which was won 1: 3. He scored his first goal on the 2nd match day in a 5-3 win against BSG Chemie Buna Schkopau in the 15th. In addition, Hoffmann scored in this game in the 84th minute of the game. Due to his good performance, the FC Carl Zeiss Jena signed him in 1989 for the league. He made his debut on the first day of the game against 1. FC Magdeburg when he was substituted on for Robby Zimmermann in the 65th minute . Jena lost the game with 0-2. Hoffmann scored his first goal in the league on September 16, 1989 (5th matchday) in a 1-1 draw against Dynamo Dresden . In the 1989/90 season he was used 21 times, but scored only two goals. After this moderate season, he moved to league rivals Energie Cottbus in 1991. There Hoffmann only met once in seven games and therefore moved to FSV Zwickau in the same year . After only one season he was committed by 1. SC Göttingen 05 , which played in the third-class Oberliga Nord. In his first season in 1992/93, Hoffmann scored 13 goals in 29 games. In the following season he was only used ten times, but scored four more times. In his last season in 1994/95 at Göttingen, he scored two goals in 19 games and then moved to SV 1910 Kahla . There he also worked as a player-coach until he ended his career in 2001.
