action

The deaf and mute Ryu urgently needs a new kidney for his seriously ill sister. He works hard to get the money for this operation as soon as possible, but he is fired.

Ryu and his left-wing radical girlfriend Yeong-mi are out of the question for a transplant because the blood types are different, so Ryu seeks out an organ dealer. She promises him to get a kidney with blood group B for 10,000,000 won (about 6,500 euros) and one of Ryu's kidneys. She doesn't keep her word and Ryu is now without a kidney and without the money for the operation.

Ryu's girlfriend wants to kidnap a businessman's daughter. First, the victim was supposed to be Ryu's ex-boss - but the plan changes, and businessman Park Dong-jin is selected to extort money from him. When Ryu's sister learns of the kidney transplant plan, she refuses to accept the victim and commits suicide. Ryu then buries his sister by the river where they used to play as children. An accident occurs and the kidnapped girl drowns.

The father is devastated because he accepted the kidnappers' demands and gave them the money they asked. Since his wife has long since left him and now his daughter is also dead, he swears revenge. He determines who killed his daughter and tortures Ryu's girlfriend to death when she refuses to tell him where Ryu is hiding. This in turn seeks the organ traffickers in order to get revenge on them. When Ryu returns to his home, the body of his girlfriend is being removed by the police and doctors.

Ryu waits for Dong-jin in front of his house, but Dong-jin is in Ryu's apartment. When Ryu returns, Dong-jin outsmarts him. He takes him to the river where his daughter died and now Ryu will also die. He dismembered Ryu's body to bury it in a desert-like landscape. While Dong-jin is digging the hole, he is disturbed by a jeep from which four people get out and knives him down with several knife stabs. They stab him on the chest with a flyer that read "Death Sentence", and as soon as they came the men left.

Surprised by what happened, Dong-jin remembers who these people were. It was the left-wing extremist group that Ryu's girlfriend had threatened with if he really killed her. There, in a remote area, he too finds his death.

Reviews

"In view of the never-ending strokes of fate, despite the impressive game of the actors and the neo-realistic staging will of the director, there remains a calculating taste for applied arts, which you can no longer feel in" Old Boy ", the second part of the" Trilogy "."

“This first revenge film (before“ Oldboy ”and“ Lady Vengeance ”) tells the fateful story of the fatal kidnapping and the brutal retribution of the traumatized father as a terrifyingly hopeless spiral of violence in masterful images. Conclusion: Relentlessly tough, only for strong nerves. "
