Synagogue (Dettensee)
The synagogue in Dettensee , a district of Horb am Neckar in the Freudenstadt district in northern Baden-Württemberg , was built in 1819/20 and demolished in April 1930. The synagogue was on Georg-Schorpp-Str. 16/18.
history
With the help of donations from foreign Jews, the new synagogue could be financed. On July 5, 1820, the solemn inauguration took place by the Rabbi von Hechingen .
By the end of the 19th century, the number of Jewish residents quickly declined. In 1902 there were only four men living in the congregation and now, at the latest, the service had to be stopped. The Jewish community decided to close the synagogue and later demolish it. It should be prevented that the synagogue building could be used for profane purposes. The Torah scrolls were given to other Jewish communities.
In the years after the First World War , the synagogue fell into disrepair and was finally demolished in April 1930.
