Synagogue (Niedermendig)

The synagogue in Niedermendig , a district of Mendig in the Rhineland-Palatinate district of Mayen-Koblenz , was built in 1851 and destroyed in the November pogrom in 1938 . The synagogue was located at 4 Wollstrasse below the Catholic parish church of St. Cyriakus .

The historicist synagogue was built according to plans by the Niedermendig-based architect Peter Schmitz and was inaugurated on August 20, 1886. It was a quarry stone building made of local basalt and tuff stone .

The synagogue was destroyed during the November pogrom in 1938 .

Today there is a small park with a memorial stone in memory of the synagogue on the property.
