Synagogue in Strážnice

The synagogue in Strážnice (German Straßnitz ), a town in Okres Hodonín in the South Moravian Region in the Czech Republic , was built in 1804. The secluded synagogue on Sadová Street, directly adjacent to the Jewish cemetery , has been a protected cultural monument since 1988.

The synagogue, built in the classicism style, was renovated and redesigned around 1870 and 1906. The interior of the synagogue was painted with floral motifs and Hebrew liturgical texts. A sundial is attached to the front gable .

A memorial plaque on the synagogue building has been commemorating the victims of the Shoah since 2008 .
