Szandra Szalay (born July 30, 1989 in Tatabánya ) is a former Hungarian triathlete. She is Vice World Champion Aquathlon (2010).

Career

Szalay attended the primary school Váci Mihály Általános Iskola and the high school Péch Antal Műszaki Szakközépiskola és Gimnázium in Tatabánya .

Since 2006, Szalay has been a member of the ORTRI club from Oroszlány , a town next to her hometown Tatabánya . Your trainer is Licskó Csaba. Together with Zsófia Tóth , who also competed for ORTRI until 2008, and Zsófia Kovács , Szandra Szalay was considered one of the great Hungarian Olympic hopes for London 2012. In
2007, Sandra Scala took part in her first ITU competitions and won the Junior European Cup in Tiszaújváros, as she did in 2008 when she won the silver medal at the European Junior Championships. In May 2007 she was also sixth in the Junior Duathlon World Championship.

In 2010, she became vice-world champion in aquathlon in September. That year she was also third in the Hungarian Ranglista, a kind of national championship series.

In 2011 and 2012 Szalay also started in the German Bundesliga and represented the club EJOT Team TV Buschhütten . It has not appeared internationally since 2013.
