Zsófia Kovács (born February 7, 1988 in Gyöngyös ) is a Hungarian triathlete . She is U23 vice world champion 2011, winner of the Hungary Cup 2010 (Triatlon Ranglista) , student world champion triathlon (2014), two-time Olympic athlete (2012, 2016) and member of the national team.

Career

Zsófia Kovács lives in Mátrafüred and attended the Berze Nagy János Gimnázium in Gyöngyös . As a student, she was selected several times for the national sports promotion program Good Student Good Athlete . In July 2004 she became Junior Vice European Triathlon Champion in Lausanne.

In Hungary, Kovács won the Triatlon Tour Cup series in 2009 after having been fifth in 2008 and beaten by Zsófia Tóth . Kovács competes for the triathlon club in her hometown, the Gyöngyösi Triatlon És Szi-Klub (Gyötri).

2012 Summer Olympics

At the Olympic Games in London in 2012 she finished only 51st out of 52 athletes.

In April 2014 she became the student world champion in Brazil. In 2015 she became vice state champion on the triathlon sprint distance. She is trained by Geza Zakarias .

In May 2016 she was third in the European Triathlon Championships on the Olympic distance.

2016 Summer Olympics

Zsófia Kovács qualified for a place at the 2016 Summer Olympics and finished 24th as the best Hungarian on August 20th in Rio de Janeiro.
