Maurice Guigue

Maurice Alexandre Guigue (born August 4, 1912 in Arles , † February 27, 2011 ) was a French football referee .

Career

The highlight of his career was participation in the 1958 World Cup in Sweden . He directed two group games; the first on June 8, 1958 between Brazil and Austria and the second on June 15, 1958 between Brazil and the USSR. In addition, on June 17, 1958, he led the playoff for second place in Group 1 between Northern Ireland and the CSSR, in which he referred the Czechoslovak Titus Bubernik of the field.

On June 29, 1958, he was also the game director in the World Cup final between Brazil and Sweden in the Råsundastadion in Solna . In total, he led four games at this World Cup. He was also used on June 19, 1958 in the quarter-final match between Brazil and Wales as a linesman. He made his international farewell on February 21, 1962 in the European Cup with the encounter between Real Madrid and Juventus Turin , which Madrid won 1-0.

Nationally, he led the French Cup final of 1956 , in which UA Sedan-Torcy defeated the AS Troyes-Savinienne team 3-1.
