The company TÜLOMSAS ( Türkiye ve Lokomotif Motor Sanayii A.Ş. ) is a Turkish engineering company based in Eskisehir . The main production area is the manufacture of rail vehicles for the Turkish State Railways , which is also the company's parent company.

history

With the construction of the Anatolian Railway in 1892 Eskişehir received its first railway connection, which was later followed by other routes. The Anatolian Railway Company built a workshop here in 1894 to maintain the vehicles used. After the liberation from the British occupation by the Kuvayı Milliye in the Turkish War of Liberation , the factory was called Eskişehir Cer Atölyesi (Eskişehir Locomotive Workshop). From 1923 the plant also produced its own steam boilers and other steel structures for the railroad, which previously had to be obtained from abroad.

After the Second World War, the construction of various machines began, in 1957 the first two miniature steam locomotives for park railways left the factory halls. A year later the name changed to Eskişehir Demiryolu Fabrikası (Eskişehir Railway Factory) and construction of the first standard-gauge steam locomotive built in Turkey with the name "Karakurt", which was completed in 1961, began. The manufacture of automobiles called Devrim ("Revolution") also fell during this period .

In 1968 the production of diesel locomotives also began , initially as licensed MaK rod locomotives . Two years later the name was changed again to Eskişehir Lokomotif ve Motor Sanayii Müessesesi (ELMS). Further license builds by foreign locomotive manufacturers followed, such as the production of the TCDD series DE 24000 .

In 1986 the plant was converted into a joint stock company under Turkish law and was given its current name. The company has also been building railway service vehicles since the following year . In 1994 the first self-developed diesel locomotive was finally presented with the TCDD series DH 7000 .

Today the company operates seven plants, the production halls cover a total of 176,000 m 2 . Every year around 70 locomotives and service vehicles, 500 freight cars, 600 motors and generators leave the factory halls.

Products

The main business is the production and operation of rail vehicles. Above all, license builds from various foreign manufacturers should be mentioned here, such as the TCDD series E 43000 under license from the Japanese Toshiba group. American designs are also manufactured under license, for example the TCDD series DE 22000 . Since the 1990s, self-developed diesel locomotives have also been manufactured. Even freight cars are manufactured by TÜLOMSAS.

In addition, the company builds diesel and electric motors for various purposes.
