The T-15 (development index: Object 149 ) is the most modern Russian armored personnel carrier . It is intended to replace the BMP-2 and BMP-3 armored personnel carriers. The T-15 is based on the universal tracked vehicle platform Armata by Uralvagonzavod . Unlike the T-14 battle tank, the engine of the T-15 is located at the front. He was presented to the public during the parade marking the 70th anniversary of the Red Army's victory over Hitler Germany on May 9, 2015 in Moscow.
Armament
The T-15 is equipped with a 2A42 automatic cannon with a range of max. 5000 meters armed, which is ready for use at temperatures of −50 ° C to +50 ° C. 500 rounds of ammunition are carried. A machine gun with a caliber of 7.62 mm serves as secondary armament, the combat set consists of 2000 rounds. In addition, the T-15 carries four ready -to- fire Kornet EMs with an effective range of 150 to 10,000 meters. The anti-tank guided weapons work on the fire-and-forget principle and can be used with both a thermobaric and tandem hollow charge warhead . With a penetration capacity of 1400 mm RHA , the latter enables the effective combat of all battle tanks . Alternatively, the T-15 can also be equipped with a turret with a 57 mm cannon and 9K120 Ataka anti-tank missiles.
Armor
The T-15 is equipped with composite armor . On each side of the vehicle there are five cylinders with projectiles that are supposed to repel guided missiles and projectiles. These represent one of the essential components of the Afganit hard and soft kill system. In addition, there is a container with twelve smoke grenades on each side.
drive
The drive is the Chelyabinsk X12 diesel engine A-85-3A (12N360) , which has an output of around 1,103 kW (1,500 hp). The hull of the T-15 - compared to the T-14 - was rotated by 180 ° so that the engine, gearbox and drive wheels are in the front of the vehicle in order to gain space in the rear for the hatch for the infantry carried along. The drive of the T-15 is a supporting roller drive with 7 rotating rod sprung run - and four support rollers on each side. The two front and rear rollers are fitted with hydraulic rotary shock absorbers. A connector chain with 93 links and a central guide tooth served as the crawler belt.
