Tito Joe "TJ" Jackson (born July 16, 1978 in Los Angeles ) is an American singer and musician . He is a member of the band 3T .

Personal

Tito Joe Jackson, known as "TJ" (his initials) was born the youngest of three children. His parents are Tito Jackson and Delores "Dee Dee" Martes Jackson († 1994), so he has African American roots on his father's side and Dominican roots on his mother's side. He has two older brothers, Taj and Taryll Jackson, and is a nephew of Michael and Janet Jackson .

As the son of Tito Jackson, TJ grew up privileged, but also under observation by the American public. His mother made sure that he and his brothers had a relatively normal childhood, with birthday parties, baseball, family outings, etc. However, family happiness came to an abrupt end in 1994 when Delores Martes Jackson was only 39 years old in her then swimming pool Significant partner, Donald Bohana, drowned. TJ was 16 years old at the time.

The investigators - unlike the family - assumed a tragic accident and initially acquitted Delores Martes Jackson's partner. However, the sons were able to have the proceedings resumed. In this, the public prosecutor and the court followed their argument; for example, in 1998 Donald Bohana was sentenced to 15 years in prison for conditional murder.

TJ Jackson married Frances Jackson (née Casey, * 1975) in July 2007. He has three children with her: son Royal (born October 23, 1999) and daughters Dee Dee (born March 20, 2008) and Jordan (born November 30, 2010). TJ is also the stepfather of Sage (* 1990) and Alexia "Lexci" (* 1993), his wife's children from a previous relationship.

TJ Jackson always had a very close and loving relationship with his uncle Michael Jackson. He was like a third parent to him. TJ also expressed his love for his uncle in the program for Michael Jackson's funeral service: “You taught me to smile. You taught me to dream You taught me to live Uncle Michael, I will always remember our special moments and blissful times. I love you so much ” .

On August 22, 2012, a Los Angeles court named TJ Jackson permanent co-guardian of Michael Jackson's children Michael Joseph Jackson Jr. (Prince), Paris-Michael Katherine and Prince Michael II (Blanket) following disputes within the Jackson clan. In the meantime, his grandmother Katherine Jackson had been withdrawn from custody and TJ had been appointed temporary guardian. He now officially shares guardianship with his grandmother, whom he previously supported as an informal guardian.

Career

Even as young children, TJ Jackson and his brothers appeared on television and on stage along with their famous father, uncles and aunts. They began to imitate the Jackson 5 at an early age , learning to play instruments and write songs themselves. In 1985 - TJ was 7, Taryll 10 and Taj 12 - they were offered a recording deal. They refused because they wanted to enjoy their childhood first and finish school.

In 1986, TJ and Taryll Jackson had a cameo in the music video for their aunt Janet Jackson's song When I think of you .

In 1994 the three young Jacksons formed the band 3T and have so far released two albums, Brotherhood (1995) and Identity (2004). A third album could not be released due to disputes with the record company.

TJ and Taryll Jackson also wrote and produced songs for various other artists, including Lindsay Lohan and her aunt Janet Jackson.

In 2010, TJ Jackson was selected for the role of Prince Jean-Luc in Larry Hart's musical Sisterella .

Since 2012 TJ Jackson and his brothers have been working on a new album as 3T. On April 1, 2013, the three brothers published an excerpt of a new song on their homepage on their birthday in memory of their mother who was murdered in 1994.
