Tadeusz Rakoczy (born March 30, 1938 in Gilowice ) is a Polish Roman Catholic clergyman and emeritus bishop of Bielsko-Żywiec .

Life

After graduating from high school in Żywiec , he worked in industry for a year. In 1957 he entered the seminary in Cracow . On 23 June 1963 he became the Kraków Bishop Karol Wojtyla for priests ordained. In 1967 he became prefect of the seminary. In 1970 he went to Rome to study at the Pontifical Gregorian University . Pope John Paul II appointed him to the Curia in 1978 , where he organized the Polish section in the State Secretariat together with Józef Kowalczyk . He was a member of the papal delegation on many of the Pope's trips abroad.

On 25 March 1992 it Pope John Paul II appointed. The first bishop of the newly created diocese of Bielsko-Zywiec and gave him on April 26, 1992, in St. Peter's Basilica , the episcopal ordination . Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Cracow Cardinal Franciszek Macharski and Cardinal Secretary of State Angelo Sodano .

The solemn enthronement was on May 9, 1992 in the Nicholas Cathedral in Bielsko-Biała, synonymous with the acceptance of his diocese.

His motto is In aedificationem Corporis Christi (“Building up the body of Christ”, Epistle of Paul to the Ephesians ( Eph 4.13  EU )).

On November 16, 2013, Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation.
