Taisuke Kodama

Taisuke Kodama ( Japanese 児 玉 泰 介 , Kodama Taisuke ; born July 26, 1958 ) is a former Japanese marathon runner .

1983 still tenth in the Fukuoka marathon in 2:12:51 h, he improved in the same place the following year to second place in 2:10:36. In 1986 he won the Beppu-Ōita marathon in 2:10:34 and the Beijing marathon in 2:07:35, a time that stood as a Japanese record until 1999 and has only been equalized as a course record since then by Abebe Mekonnen in 1988.

In 1987 he finished second in the IAAF World Cup marathon and in 1988 fourth in Fukuoka. In 1991 he was fifth in the Beppu-Ōita and second in the Beijing Marathon. At the end of his competitive sports career, he came ninth in the 1992 Rotterdam Marathon .

He has been working as a trainer since the early 1990s, initially for the sports teams of Asahi Kasei and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries , and since 2009 for the Aichi Seiko Track Team.
