Takeshi Yamanaka ( Japanese 山 中 武 司 , Yamanaka Takeshi ; born January 30, 1971 in Tomakomai , Hokkaidō ) is a former Japanese ice hockey player and current coach . He is married to former speed skater Hiromi Yamamoto .

Career

Takeshi Yamanaka spent his entire career as a hockey player with the Ōji Eagles , for which he was active in the Japan Ice Hockey League from 1989 to 2002 . With his team he won the Japanese championship title in 1990, 1991 and 1994. After the end of his active career, he joined the coaching staff of the Ōji Eagles and from 2007 to 2010 was initially assistant coach of the team with which he won the championship title of the Asia League Ice Hockey in 2008. Between 2010 and 2014 he was the head coach of the Eagles and was able to win the ALIH championship title with the Eagles again in 2012.

Since 2014 he has been a member of the coaching staff of the Japanese women's ice hockey team and took part in the 2018 Winter Olympics as head coach .

For Japan , Yamanaka took part in the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano .
