Valley Ben Haim ; Hebrew טל בן חיים ; (Born March 31, 1982 in Rishon LeZion ) is an Israeli football player who has been under contract with Beitar Jerusalem since July 2018.
Career
societies
Tal Ben Haim began his football career in Israel with Maccabi Tel Aviv . In 1998 he was nominated for the first time for the professional squad. In 2003 he won the Israeli championship there.
For the 2004/05 season Ben Haim moved to the English Premier League , to the Bolton Wanderers . There he established himself as one of the best central defenders in the league. He was allowed to wear the captain's armband a few times and was voted Bolton's best player in 2005.
In June 2007, Chelsea announced the signing of Tal Ben Haim. Ben Haim came on a free transfer and received a four-year contract until 2011. His compatriot Ben Sahar already played at Chelsea . In 2008 he moved to Manchester City , but was loaned by the Citizens to Sunderland FC in January 2009 and sold to Portsmouth FC in the summer of 2009 .
After Portsmouth FC was relegated from the Premier League , Ben Haim switched to West Ham United on loan . The loan contract only ran until January 2011, when he met his former coach Avram Grant , who is also Israeli. In the summer of 2012, his contract with Portsmouth FC was dissolved and he was without a club. In early January 2013 he signed a contract with Premier League club Queens Park Rangers until the end of the 2012/13 season.
For the 2013/14 season, Tal Ben Haim moved to Belgium for Standard Liège on a free transfer . After playing only 15 games across all competitions for the Belgians, he signed a contract in the English second division on July 11, 2014 for a period of one year with Charlton Athletic .
After his contract was not renewed, Ben Haim moved back to his youth club Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Israeli league in summer 2015.
In 2018, Ben Haim moved to league rivals Beitar Jerusalem on a free transfer. There he signed a contract until 2020.
National team
Ben Haim made his debut in the senior national team of Israel against Germany on February 13, 2002 and quickly established himself as a regular.
