Talal Abu-Ghazaleh ( Arabic طلال أبو غزالة Talāl Abū Ghazāla , DMG Ṭalāl Abū Ġazāla ; * April 22, 1938 in Jaffa , then in the Mandate Palestine ) is the chairman , CEO and founder of the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh International Organization (TAGORG), which is based in Jordan .

Abu-Ghazaleh is regarded as a master of Arabic bookkeeping and played an important role in promoting intellectual property in the Arab region .

Life

Abu-Ghazaleh fled with his Palestinian family to Ghazziyeh, Lebanon as a result of the Nakba in 1948. After attending elementary and secondary school in Sidon , he went to Beirut to receive a higher education at the American university as a scholarship holder .

During his studies he worked as a translator and as a teacher . His first post after graduation was with an accounting firm.

After hearing an intellectual property conversation at a Time-Warner conference in San Francisco , Abu Ghazaleh decided in 1969 to work in the field of intellectual property rights and accounting.

In 1972 the two companies Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Company (TAGCO) and Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual property (AGIP) were founded. Since then, Abu-Ghazaleh has founded a total of 14 specialized companies in various areas such as administration , consulting , legal services, IT and much more. Today these are grouped under the umbrella of the Talal Abu Ghazaleh Organization .

Over the years, Abu-Ghazaleh has been successful in forging very close partnerships with global organizations such as the United Nations and the WTO .

On April 4, 2007, the UN Secretary-General named Ban Ki Moon Abu-Ghazaleh as Vice-Chair of the United Nations Global Compact during its second meeting at the UN headquarters in New York .
