The Pfeddersheim Viaduct is a 1,471.4 m long motorway bridge on the A 61 near Pfeddersheim in Rheinhessen , Rhineland-Palatinate .
The structure stands between the motorway junctions Worms-Nord and Worms at motorway kilometer 342. It spans the Pfrimm valley , a western tributary of the Rhine , and a section of the Rheinhessenbahn (Worms- Alzey ) at a maximum height of 30 m with 34 fields to the west of Worms. , the federal road 47 (Worms − Pfeddersheim) and a municipal road (Leiselheim − Pfeddersheim).
The highway is curved in plan along the bridge. The overpass was built with two separate superstructures for the one-way carriageway between 1972 and 1975 at a construction cost of around 35 million DM .
Foundation and substructures
The abutments and the pillars are built flat on layers of sand and gravel . The pillars, a maximum of 27 m high, have a rectangular hollow cross-section and are 5.5 m wide.
Superstructures
The two adjacent superstructures of the prestressed concrete bridge have the continuous beam in the longitudinal direction and are divided into four independent sections with three expansion joints . The construction height is constant 2.7 m. In the transverse direction, the superstructures are designed as two-cell box girder cross-sections. The prestressing consists of internal tendons in the longitudinal direction .
The spans for the 34-span bridge are 35.2 m, 3 × 45.0 m, 2 × 38.5 m, 8 × 45.0 m, 38.5 m, 36.2 m, 6 × 45.0 m, 2 × 38.5 m, 9 × 45.0 m and 37.5 m, which results in a total span of 1471.4 m.
