Talib Shareef

Talib M. Shareef (originally Thomas Galloway , born circa 1961 in New York City ) is a retired US military man and an American personality of Islam in the United States of Christian origin.

Life

Talib Shareef is the President and Imam of the historic Masjid Muhammad, The Nation's Mosque in Washington, DC in the Shaw neighborhood . Shortly before his military training, he converted to Islam . In 30 years of service in the United States Air Force , he was promoted to Chief Master Sergeant . He was stationed in the Middle East for years and participated in the US military operations Desert Storm in Kuwait , Enduring Freedom in Iraq and Provide Comfort on the border with Turkey .

He earned a MBA Accounts of American InterContinental University , graduated from the Islamic University of Imam Muhammad ibn Saud and a graduate of the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies ( Center for Modern Languages of the Defense Language Institute for Arabic and Middle East Studies ).

Shareef was a student of WD Mohammed , son of Nation of Islam founder Elijah Muhammad . Talib Shareef served as an imam in five US cities and seven military locations around the world. He has received the Kingdom of Morocco's highest Royal Medal for his outstanding interfaith leadership and was honored for his services by American President Barack Obama in the White House.

He was a co-organizer, spoke and directed the historical prayer of the Islamic community at Washington National Cathedral .

"Invited and sponsored by the US Department of State and the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs to speak in several cities and meet with various local, national and international leaders in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with emphasis on Human Rights, Islam in the US, Interfaith and combating terrorism. "

Talib Shareef also holds the presidency of the Muslim American Military Association (MAMA).

He was one of the signatories of the open letter to al-Baghdadi .

He is also involved in the Muslim-Jewish dialogue .
