Talisman was a Swedish hard rock band that existed from 1990 to 2007.
history
Talisman were founded in 1990 by bassist Marcel Jacob, who had played with Rising Force and the John Norum Group. Jeff Scott Soto was hired as the singer . In 1992 Fredrik Åkesson joined Jason Bieler, who had switched to Saigon Kick , as the new guitarist . In 1998 Talisman released a cover version of the Prince song Darling Nikki from his album Purple Rain . Over the years the band recorded seven studio albums for Frontiers Records , the last was simply titled 7 . In 2007 the band broke up after Akesson's departure.
In 2014 the band will reunite at the Sweden Rock Festival . Since Fredrik Åkesson is on tour with Opeth at the time , Pontus Norgren will be on guitar, who has already appeared on Truth and Album 7 . Johan Niemann will also represent Marcel Jacob, who committed suicide in 2009. The concert will pay homage to him, as he would have celebrated his 50th birthday in January 2014.
