Tamás 'rongy' Rosenberg (Tommy Rosenberg) (born August 30, 1947 in Budapest , Hungary ) is a German drummer and composer .

life and work

Rosenberg studied at the jazz faculty of the Béla Bartók Conservatory in Budapest, where he graduated in 1969. He is one of the pioneers of Hungarian pop music and worked as a drummer in the Hungarian pop and rock bands Scampolo and Atlasz in the late 1960s .

He worked as a studio musician in radio, film, television and theater productions in Hungary. From 1969 to 1972 he was a member of the Hungarian jazz quartets Tomsits and Pege . Appearances at international jazz festivals in Berlin , Montreux , Vienna and Palermo followed. 1972 to 1975 he gave guest appearances abroad with the Atlas Band, which accompanied Josephine Baker in Munich. Rosenberg has lived in Munich since 1975 and played in the Udo Jürgens Orchestra. After that he was band leader and drummer of the Michael-Schanze -Show on ZDF for several years and played in the John West Big Band. In the 1980s and 90s he worked with Klaus Doldinger , Ack van Rooyen and Art Farmer and accompanied the singers Julia Migenes , Barry Manilow and Engelbert Humperdinck .

At the end of the 1990s he founded his jazz trio Tommy Rosenberg-Trio with György Vukán (pianist) and Garry Todd / Balázs Berkes (bassist), which, in addition to live performances, also released two albums with their own compositions.
