Tankcsapda is a three- piece rock band from Hungary . They are considered the most popular Hungarian rock band and, with 17 number one albums and over 40 platinum records, are among the most successful Hungarian musicians.
history
Tankcsapda was founded in Debrecen in 1989 . The head of the band is singer and songwriter Lukács László. The band started out as a punk band . Her debut album Punk & Roll received little attention in her second year. The band developed over time towards hard rock and heavy metal . The second album A legjobb méreg was already more successful, but the breakthrough came after Molnár Levente joined the band as guitarist and second singer. The third album Jönnek a férgek entered the Hungarian charts at number 14 in 1994 and lasted for several weeks. After that, the first two albums were re-released as a double CD, also at number 14.
With Az ember tervez it went to higher chart regions for the first time in 1995, the album reached number 3 and they got their first gold award . With the live album Eleven they made it to the top of the chart for the first time in 1996 . From then on, they were among the most successful bands among fans and music buyers. In the Hungarian edition of Metal Hammer , they were voted the most popular rock band for the first time in 1996 and then regularly confirmed. The next two studio albums again achieved top placements.
At the turn of the millennium, Tamás Fejes took over the drums. The album Agyarország was Tankcsapda’s third number one album in 2001 and in 2001 won them the “Golden Giraffe”, the national music award , in the rock album category. It is the first album to reach platinum status. Two years later, with Élni vagy égni , they not only won the second “Giraffe” and again platinum, there were also other awards from the TV station VIVA , and the head of the band, Lukács László, received the award for best songwriter from the copyright association Artisjus . The song Örökké tart received the Hungarian Song of the Year award. In 2004 the band released not only a successful best-of album for its 15th anniversary, but also the band biography TANKönyv , which became a bestseller with 10,000 copies sold. In addition, they repeatedly set attendance records, in Debrecen they exceeded the number of Iron Maiden with 10,000 spectators in the hall and at the Sziget Festival in Budapest in August 2005 they had more than 50,000 spectators.
The trio released two more number one albums, then Levente left the band in 2012 and Gábor Sidlovics came as the new guitarist. The band's most successful period began. With Rockmafia Debrecen they experienced another increase in the same year, the album was awarded five times platinum. Urai vagyunk a helyzetnek received one more platinum award in 2014. And in 2018 Dolgozzátok fel came! even on eight platinum records. The album consists of two CDs on which Tankcsapda covers songs by other artists and other artists cover Tankcsapda songs. Before the 30th anniversary, the band released three CDs in 2018 with songs from three different periods in the band's history. After their release they occupied the first three places on the album charts. Liliput Hollywood was the band's 14th studio album and 17th number one album in 2019.
