Location of Tannach in Kempten (Allgäu)

Tannach is a historical place name that referred to a wasteland in the independent city of Kempten (Allgäu) . The district belonged to the rural community of Sankt Mang until 1972 , which was re-added to Kempten that year. With a letter from the government of Swabia dated October 15, 1981, the part of the municipality was canceled and assigned as house number 6 to the hamlet of Kargen , a good 150 meters west of Kargen in its previous extent (house number 3). This was to avoid confusion with the hamlet of the same name in the city of Kempten, which was expanded in 1972, namely Tannach, the former municipality of St. Lorenz .

history

The first reliable news about a Tannach on the right bank of the Iller comes from a land table from 1738. In 1819, when the municipality of Sankt Mang was formed from Tannach and other places , seven residents lived in the farm. The Hauptmannschaft Lenzfried was superordinate to Tannach.

In 1900 two properties with eight residents are occupied for Tannach. In 1954, six people lived in the desert. The single settlement was last recorded in the official register of the census on May 27, 1970 with three inhabitants.
