Tapéus is a town and municipality in central Portugal .

history

Finds indicate a settlement since the Paleolithic . The present town was first documented in a document in 1111. However, the stony soils of the mountainous area prevented significant economic development. The municipality of Tapéus was part of Redinha County until 1864, when it has belonged to Soure.

economy

The predominantly stony soils do not allow for extensive agriculture in the municipality, but favor the cultivation of olive trees. The production of olive oil and the operation of quarries are the most important branches of the economy here to this day . The municipality is also a popular hunting ground in the region.
