Tapinocyba maureri is a spider from the canopy spider family(Linyphiidae). It is common in Italy and Switzerland .
features
Males and females reach a body length of 1.4 to 1.5 mm. The front part of the body ( prosoma ) is brownish with a blackish pattern. The legs are yellowish. The abdomen ( opisthosoma ) is also blackish in color.
This species is close to Tapinocyba insecta, which is widespread in Central Europe, and appears to be vicarious with it . It can only be distinguished from this species on the basis of the tibia and the copulation apparatus (bulb) of the male pedipalp . As in Tapinocyba insecta , the tibia has two apophyses. In Tapinocyba maureri the dorsal apophysis is longer, so both are about the same length. The terminal apparatus of the globe lacks the U-shaped incision characteristic of Tapinocyba insecta .
Locations
Finds of the species are from South Tyrol, Ticino (widespread here) and the Aosta Valley . In South Tyrol near Neustift on Brixen quartz phyllite at the entrance to the Puster Valley . A habitat with a dry, warm climate is preferred. The species was found in South Tyrol in wetlands and orchards. The sister species Tapinocyba insecta is also rarely found here; its locations in the Eisack and Puster valleys indicate an advance from the north, over the main Alpine ridge. The known occurrences of both species approach each other within a few kilometers, but they do not occur together anywhere.
