Tapiramutá is a city in the Brazilian state of Bahia with 17,010 inhabitants ( IBGE estimate , as of 2019). Tapiramutá is about 15 km south of the federal highway BA-052 , halfway between Feira de Santana and Xique-Xique .
The area was originally inhabited by the Paiaiá Indians. The first permanent buildings go back to 1901. The name Tapiramutá comes from the Indian language Tupi , meaning the Tapir ambush .
The main line of business is agriculture, in particular the cultivation of coffee .
