Tarnawiec (until March 11, 1939 German Dornbach ) is a village with a Schulzenamt of the municipality Kuryłówka in the Powiat Leżajski of the Subcarpathian Voivodeship in Poland .

The place lies between the rivers San and Złota.

history

The place was first mentioned in the early 17th century as a hamlet in front of Kuryłówka.

During the first partition of Poland , the chamber goods of the city of Leżajsk became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire (from 1804).

In 1786, in the course of the Josephine colonization, German colonists of Catholic denomination were settled. The colony was called Dornbach . In 1812 a Roman Catholic parish was established. By the end of the 19th century, the colonists' descendants were Polonized. In 1900 the Dornbach community had 44 houses with 254 inhabitants, of which 204 were Polish-speaking, 33 German-speaking, 14 Ruthenian-speaking, 224 Roman Catholic, 11 Greek Catholic, 19 Jews.

In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Dornbach came to Poland.

In 1921 the Dornbach community had 32 houses with 275 inhabitants, 256 of them Poles, 16 Ruthenians, 3 Germans, 241 Catholics, 27 Greek Catholics, 1 other Christian, 1 Jew.

During the Second World War it belonged to the Generalgouvernement.

From 1975 to 1998 Tarnawiec was part of the Rzeszów Voivodeship .
