Taryn Suttie (born December 7, 1990 in Saskatoon ) is a Canadian shot putter .

Athletic career

Taryn Suttie gained her first experience in international competitions at the Pan American Junior Championships 2009 in Port of Spain , where she finished seventh with 14.09 m. In 2011 she took part in the Summer Universiade in Shenzhen , where she finished ninth with a height of 15.30 m. The following year she won the bronze medal at the U23 NACAC championships in Irapuato with 16.22 m. In 2015 she finished tenth at the Pan American Games in Toronto , where she hit the ball to 16.80 m. In 2016 she took part in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and was eliminated there with 16.74 m in qualification , as well as at the World Championships in London the following year, where 16.47 m was not enough for a final . In 2018 she took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast for the first time and finished eighth there with 16.92 m.

In 2015, Suttie became the Canadian Champion in the Shot Put. She graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a degree in Sports Science .
