Tatjana Iossifovna Goldfarb ( Russian Татьяна Иосифовна Гольдфарб , scientific transliteration Tat'jana Iosifovna Gol'dfarb , born November 27, 1914 in Odessa ; † November 17, 1964 in Tbilisi ) was a Soviet classical pianist and piano teacher.

life and work

Tatjana Goldfarb studied piano in Berta Michailovna Reingbald's class. After graduating in 1932, she became a soloist with the Odessa Philharmonic Society. From 1935 to 1938 Goldfarb completed postgraduate studies with Abram Lufer in Kiev and at the same time worked as a soloist at the National Philharmonic . Goldfarb then went to Moscow, attended Heinrich Neuhaus' class at the Moscow Conservatory until 1941 and worked for the Moscow Philharmonic until 1964 . From 1958 until her death in 1964, Goldfarb taught at the Conservatory in Tbilisi.

In 1937 Goldfarb achieved a 9th place at the 3rd International Frederic Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw. In addition to classical and contemporary piano literature, Goldfarb's repertoire included works by the Ukrainian composers Levko Rewuzkyj and Viktor Kossenko .
